PETA FRIEND

Passionately advocating for all transgender and non-binary people living in Sydney and beyond to live their best possible life.

Peta Friend is a proud trans woman, small business owner and community leader.

.

In 2015 Peta founded Trans Sydney Pride to build a social and support network for the transgender and gender non-conforming community. What started as a Sunday afternoon lunch with six transgender women has grown into a online support group with over eight hundred members, a sibling online group for allies of the trans community (TSP Family, Friends and Allies) and now an incorporated association with a vision for all transgender and non-binary people in the Sydney area to live their greatest possible life.

.

Peta embraces opportunities to raise awareness in the larger community and has shared her story of transition at many corporate events including the Macquarie Bank, State Street, Goldman Saks and The Attorney Generals Department.

.

She was a key speaker for the largest Marriage Equality rally at Town Hall speaking to an audience of over thirty thousand.

.

In 2016 + 2017 Peta produced and MC’d the events Transitioning and Career Success and Trans Stories – A Celebration for TSP as part of Sydney’s Pride Week.

.

Recently, in association with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and TSP she produced and featured as a speaker in Trans Stories –40 Years; the sell-out, headline event for Mardi Gras’ Queer Thinking Festival at Carriage works.

.

Trans Sydney Pride proudly marched in the 2017 + 2018 Mardi Gras Parade. Both years they were honoured with a Special Commendation Award from SGLMG.
