Nyx Calder (they/them) is an actor, writer, comedian and speaker.
They recently graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art’s BFA (Acting) Program. A vibrant and fresh-faced artist originally hailing from Melbourne, Nyx is a performer driven by a love for language, community and social justice.
Now entering into the world of activism and advocacy, they are drawn towards helping to improve conditions for gender diverse individuals both inside and outside the performing arts. With a knack for public speaking and a strength in comedy, Nyx has a particular interest in engaging with audiences in the difficult truths of life through a lens of mirth and joy, looking to blend education with entertainment.
Their speaking experience includes featuring as a speaker at My Trans Story – The Next Generation for Sydney Mardi Gras, and as a panellist at Out for Australia’s Transgender Day of Visibility panel in association with IAG. As an actor, Nyx recently appeared in Jess and Joe Forever for Belvoir’s 25A season and will appear in Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Lord of the Flies in July 2019.
